RANGERS FOOTBALL CLUB
Proud of a rich history stretching back to 1872, Rangers Football Club is one of the world’s oldest and most successful football clubs.
Preparing for the world’s glare during 2022’s 150-year celebrations, Rangers approached See Saw Creative with rebranding the club, modernising its visual style for a global digital audience, while holding true to its heritage.
The new brand identity retains the core assets and heritage of Rangers, whilst modernising and evolving its visual style for a digital era and in support of the club’s international fan engagement ambitions.
Partnering with See Saw, Craig was tasked with creating a typographic design for the football club which would sit in the newly formed crest. Together they explored Ibrox stadium, delving through the archives to craft a custom brand typeface, Rangers Display, which perfectly captured the heritage and personality of Rangers. With serif kicks that echo those of the bluebells at Ibrox’s iconic gates, the new typeface also takes cues from Ibrox’s entrance floor mosaic in addition to various letterheads used over the years.
This is a fully functioning brand typeface brought to life through the help of Stitzlein Studio that represents the elite football status and manages to be both modern and fresh, yet instantly recognisable as Rangers — representative of not only the past, but the present and the future.
The typeface will be used across all elements of the Rangers brand from marketing, social media and signage to the players' names and numbers on the back of the football strips.
