CHIDO MEXICAN KITCHEN
Branding, Interior & Exterior Design
As a way of introducing the vibrant culture of Mexico to the West of Scotland, highly experienced and well-travelled chef, John Derrick decided to create a Mexican restaurant to showcase the authentic dishes he had created.
The brief was to create a brand that avoided the usual tired clichés commonly associated with Mexican restaurants. A brand that would combine high quality with authenticity, that had flare and yet was playful. Chido Mexican Kitchen translates to ‘Cool Mexican Kitchen’ which helps convey the required tone of the brand.
With the restaurant situated on a bustling high street filled with food venues, stand-out is a must. An eye catching exterior combining typographical negative space and an illustrated skull all hand-painted emphasised the brands commitment to authenticity. The interior is complimented by textures and illustrations that pull in notes from the hand-made, natural feel of exciting Mexican markets.
